Toronto, ON – The Orange Record Label is proud to announce the signing of Tara Slone. A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Tara is one of Canada’s most well known and respected singers and entertainers. Her upcoming debut solo release, Just Look Pretty and Sing (set for release in Jaunary 2007), was co-written and recorded with Jordon Zadorozny of Sam Roberts, Melissa Auf der Mar fame. Listen for her first single, My Little Secret,. It’s been making some waves already at radio!

Former lead singer of Toronto-based band Joydrop, Tara Slone burst on the scene in 1998 with their debut album, Metasexual. Their first single, Beautiful, was a hit, championing the band to over 100,000 in record sales in the US. Joydrop’s juno-nominated follow-up, Viberate, included the single, Sometimes Wanna Die. A hit at rock, pop and French radio, the band won “best new group – pop” at the 2002 Canadian Radio Music Awards. The video, which featured Tommy Lee, went to #1 on Much More Music. In the process of promoting their music, Joydrop toured North America extensively, playing hundreds of shows with bands such as Our Lady Peace, Big Wreck, Everclear and Alanis Morrisette.
As the band’s front-person, Tara attracted a tremendous amount of media attention. She has been featured in Flare, US, Chart, Razor and Billboard magazines, as well as a multitude of North American daily and weekly publications. A media darling, Tara has appeared on TSN’s “Off the Record” a record-breaking fifteen times and hosted a web feature for the OTR folks called “Inside the Locker Room”. Tara was also recently recruited by Entertainment Tonight Canada as an interviewer/host and was seen this spring on Global as the host a 1 hour special entitled “Road to Rockstar”. Tara is also an accomplished actress. She attended theatre school at Concordia University in Montreal and has had regular appearances in both theatre and film. Recent credits include a recurring role on “La Femme Nikita” and roles in the Alliance/Atlantis film “Foolproof” and the award-winning short film “The Straitjacket Lottery”, starring Andy Jones.
Tara was seen around the world last summer on the hit CBS show “Rockstar:INXS”. Chosen from thousands of candidates, Tara was one of fifteen singers handpicked by INXS as a potential singer for their band. Tara sang her way to the top ten and picked up an international fan base along the way.

Myself and Alex have been in training the last little while in a totally non hostile take-over of the website.
